1.The main idea of the selection is about Francis Scott Key, and he watched the War of 1812. He even wrote the national anthem!
2. Headings provide an overview for what the next selection is about. An example: Our Nation’s Songs (in the story)it gave information about the Star Spangled Banner which is a song of our nation.
3. Two of the words that begin with the same prefix are unvieled, and unforgettable. The prefix is un.
(1) (unknown) It is unknown who will win American Idol.
(2) (unbelievable)To discover dogs talking would be unbelievable.

Detail: Song about a flag still standing during the war of 1812.
Detail: A very carefully folded flag as a tribute.
Main Idea: Patriotic songs and music symbolizes our pride in our country.
2. The headings give readers an idea what the selection will discuss.
3. Unforgettable and unveiled are two glossary words with the same prefix. The prefix is un. Two other words that begin with the same prefix are untie and unlock. Sentences:
• I can untie my shoe laces.
• He used the key to unlock the door.
4. Francis Scott Key was inspired by the flag waving in the air because the night before, he did not think the fort would be able to stand against the attack by the British. It would have inspired me because I would have
been proud.

2. Each heading was talking about what the selection was about. For example Our Nation’s Official Seal is about what the seal represents.

1.The main idea is the American flag inspired Francis Scott Key to write the song that became our national anthem. The first detail is Key watched the British attack fort McHenry during the War of 1812.The secound detail is the American flag was still waving over the fort.
2. When you look at the headings you can know what it will talk about.Our Nation’s Liberty Bell talks about the Liberty Bell.
3.The two words that have the same prefix are unforgettable and unveiled. The prefix in both words is “un.” Unpack your clothes. I’m unhappy with you.
4.It inspired Francis Scott Key because he thought we were going to lose the war.It will inspire me because of the Navy and Army fought in the war.
