As part of our study of black history, from slavery through the 21st century, we will continue to work on our classroom timeline. It was so interesting to read your ideas about people and events that we might add to our timeline, as well as your personal thoughts about slavery and civil rights.
For additional practice with timelines, and to learn about a notable civil rights leader, Ralph Bunche, please read your assigned online book by logging in at www.pearsonsuccessnet.com, and then post the following:
1. A timeline of important dates related to Ralphe Bunche’s life. Include at least 5 different years.
2. Give at least one fact related to African American history that we discussed in class, or that you learned from your own research. The fact can be related to either slavery, the Civil Rights Era, or the 21st Century.
3. Share your opinion about the fact you chose for #2, and tell why you feel this way.

We have some really interesting online stories related to rocks this week. I think you’ll find many similarities between the photos in these books and the rock kits in our classroom! I also saw a very colorful illustration of the Earth’s layers in one, which looked a lot like the picture in our recent reading story, “Volcanoes.” Ready to get started?
